Definition of Terms
(For purposes of this Order)
To ensure clarity and uniform understanding in the implementation of the Three‑Term School Calendar, the following terms are defined:
Class Days
These refer to the total number of days allotted for teaching and learning, counted from the start of Term 1 up to the end of Term 3 under the Three‑Term School Calendar.
End‑of‑Term Block
This is the period between academic terms designated for:

Grade computation
Co‑curricular and extra‑curricular activities and competitions at the school, division, and regional levels
Implementation of the ARAL Program
Professional development activities
Wellness breaks for both teachers and learners

Instructional Block
A designated period of class days or protected instructional time devoted solely to teaching and learning across all approved learning delivery modalities.
Opening Block
The initial phase of Term 1, which covers Beginning‑of‑School‑Year (BOSY) activities such as:

Assessments
Health checks
Orientation programs for learners and parents

Term
A division of the Three‑Term School Calendar composed of:

Opening Block (applicable only to Term 1)
Instructional Block
End‑of‑Term Block

Term Examination
The summative assessment administered during the last week of the Instructional Block in each term.
Three‑Term School Calendar
A school calendar structure that organizes the academic year into three (3) distinct terms within one school year.
Wellness Break
A scheduled and protected period within the End‑of‑Term Block dedicated to the physical, mental, social, and academic well‑being of teachers and learners.
This includes time for rest, stress recovery, and participation in wellness activities.
For teachers, this is implemented in accordance with DepEd Order No. 002, s. 2026 or the Guidelines on the Grant of Wellness Leave for Department of Education Personnel.
